Moving over to Facebook/Flickr/YouTube
In order to simplify how we’re sharing info/photos/videos online, we’re going to stop updating this blog and focus instead on Facebook (being automatically updated by what we upload to Flickr or YouTube). Since most people we’re sharing with are already on Facebook, it seems to make the most sense to just put stuff up there. And if you’re not on Facebook? Come on,...

I’ve had a really great birthday so far. I went downtown to visit Jill for lunch at her job, and lo and behold she had invited Tanya and Naomi to come down and surprise me! The weather was beautiful today, so we walked down to Pike Place Market and had some excellent mac ‘n’ cheese. Just a great way to spend a birthday afternoon. On top of that, I’ve received so many nice...

This small snippet of St. Vincent covering the Beatles, by herself on electric guitar, gives a tiny inkling of her immense guitar skills and deft vocal delivery we enjoyed last night. Seeing her live has made me a much bigger fan. Enjoy, and for her sake, search for her on YouTube, where I’m sure you’ll find much better quality recordings! (BTW, she also covered Nico’s...
Excellent St. Vincent concert last night
Last night, Jill, Jenelle, and bunch of people I met on Meetup.com saw St. Vincent over at Neumos in Capitol Hill. The concert was really great. Before St. Vincent, there was this Swedish band Wildbirds & Peacedrums that was really impressive. Nothing but a drummer and a wonderful female singer, who sometimes also played a steel drum. They were really something. And St. Vincent was incredible...

Took the afternoon off and had a great Seattle afternoon with Jill. Met her downtown, walked around and grabbed lunch at the Pike Place Market, sat and ate in a park overlooking the Puget Sound, and got some coffee at the original Starbucks, all the while enjoying some sunny, spring-like weather.

Another beautifully sunny day here. When the sky is clear and the sun is shining, the mountains surrounding the city look incredible: majestic, grand, gleaming, stunning, surreal. Really something that needs to be seen to be believed.

It’s been sunny but chilly for about a week. Now it’s warmer (upper 40s, maybe even low 50s later this week), but the clouds and rain have returned. Seattle weather is weird.

Jill's got an Esty shop!
Jill has been making incredible crochet creations, and has started her very own Etsy store to share them with the world. It’s called Infatuated Girl Shop, and I’m so proud of her. You can see all her stuff here, or check out a beautiful example below.
A Thanksgiving miracle!
Last night, after a wonderful thanksgiving dinner with Tanya’s family at her grandparents’ house in Gig Harbor, we had the pleasure of visiting Tanya’s sister Rhonda in the hospital to see her, her husband, John, and, most importantly, their new son, who was born earlier that day, Liam. We’re so happy for them, and it was so special to be there. Pictures below.

Some random Seattle thoughts and pics
So sorry for the lack of posts recently. The last few weeks have been pretty crazy. Our primary objective was finding an apartment, which we did (about a week ago). But between looking at places, exploring new neighborhoods, spending time with Naomi/Tanya/Garrett, and me doing work and Jill looking for work, well, there wasn’t much time for posts. But now that we’re settled in our own...
Quick update: We've arrived!
Things are pretty busy right now, but I just wanted to pop my head up and say that we’ve arrived. The train trip out here was awesome, and we’ve now been at Garrett and Tanya’s out here in Seattle for a little less than a day. We’ve seen a little bit of the city, but there’s a ton more to check out (though we did head over to Gas Works Park, where I was able to dip my...

Checking the Pulse of Seattle
The move is less than two weeks away and, save for the stress of moving preparations, I’m pretty psyched. One thing I’m really enjoying is starting to get a feel for the local culture of our soon-to-be home. A few weeks ago Jill subscribed to a bunch of local Seattle blogs, from which she’s learned a bunch about local happenings and issues (I believe one of the best is My...

Seattle Here We Come
When Jill and I moved to San Francisco for two months back in ‘07, we kept a blog to document our experience, Flowers in Our Hair. On that site we talked about our reasons for going, our struggles in setting up our living situation, our fears regarding travel and change, as well as all the great stuff we learned and discoverd while out there. Now that we’ve decided to head west once...
